Interview with Nice Bunch, Bath

This week we stepped into the world of Sula & Oliver, the duo behind Nice Bunch, an ethical floral design studio and flower farm. From cultivating their own Somerset flower farm to balancing the care of their daughter, Koko, and managing Nice Bunch, Sula and Oliver provide a glimpse into their daily lives.

Surrounded by a supportive team and the beauty of their farm, hours fly by as they tend to their flowers, surrounded by beautiful hills and wildlife, all while listening to their favourite podcasts and audiobooks. Considering the life you want to have and creating a business that supports that, encapsulates how Sula & Oliver live their life. Read on to get inspired.

We are proud to now stock a selection of Nice Bunch's dried flowers, add one of these beauties to any gift bundle.

What inspired you to start Nice Bunch?

We wanted to create a florist business that did things differently - putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do - but one that also didn't feel like a compromise. It means we need to be endlessly creative for our clients and love that challenge. So we set up our own Somerset flower farm to source our own produce and employ a local network of growers to support us and offset our emissions through commitment to local tree planting initiatives.

What does an average working day look like for you?

We share care of our baby daughter, Koko, and running Nice Bunch, so it's a really lovely balance for us. Sula's parents Harisudha and Durgadas are career horticulturalists and support on the farm and with Koko. Oliver's parents are often seen with Koko for busy periods where we need to work together too. And we have a fantastic floristry and gardening team too.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Usually Koko! But in the summer we're often up at first light harvesting our crop on the farm. A very rewarding start to the day either way!

How do you zone out from the world?

It's perhaps a little easier for is as our farm has very little phone signal being surrounded by beautiful hills. It means we can focus on the present - nurturing the plants and wildlife or creating florals for our clients. It's a meditative experience and the hours can easily fly by. We're also lovers of audiobooks, podcasts and also now radio 4!

If someone wanted to turn their passion into a business, what would be the one piece of advice you’d give them?

That's a hard question. There's so much that goes into building a business from a passion point but perhaps figure out the kind of life you want and then build the business around that.
